Queensland Gallery of Modern Art and CAP Security Services: The Partnership

November 16, 2016

CAP Security Services are fortunate enough to work with some fantastic Queensland institutions. Among these is the world class Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, more affectionately known as GoMA by local Brisbaneites.

As Queensland’s only modern art museum, GoMA holds a collection of over 17,000 works of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions.

This year, the gallery celebrates a decade in operation and is celebrating in style – packing their summer calendar with new and exciting exhibitions including a world-first Marvel exhibition. CAP Security Services joins in the celebration as it marks ten years of working with GoMA, in supplying security services for their event and functions, since the 2006 opening.

In this month’s blog we look into the history of GoMA as a cultural institution in Brisbane, and its ten year partnership with CAP Security Services.

How GoMA came to be

If you’ve visited GoMA before, you’ll be aware that the gallery shares the area known as South Bank’s Cultural Precinct, with the Queensland Art Gallery. The Queensland Art Gallery was established in 1895 by Queensland artists Isaac Walter Jenner and R. Godfrey Rivers. Many years later, just short of a century in fact, the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) campaigned for a second building to be constructed to display growing contemporary collections. And thus, the Queensland GoMA was born.

GoMA and CAP Security Services

CAP Security Services has been working with GoMA since its opening.

Over the past 10 years in operation, the gallery has been host to a number of large, and small scale events. With an array of different functions spaces, the gallery has proven to be a unique and complex environment that has required specialist security and event services.

We have provided them with Security Guards and Event Staff to perform the following duties:

Security Guards

  • RSA duties at corporate and public events and exhibit/Gallery openings
  • Crowd control
  • Barrier staff
  • Asset protection, both internal and external
  • VIP protection
  • CCTV monitoring
  • Function security

Event Staff

  • Ushers
  • Customer service
  • Information staff
  • Directional staff

The services provided have ensured the success of events, exhibitions and functions, and the safety of clients, customers and patrons alike.

Corporate, unlike public event security, has recently become a specialist role within the industry, requiring personnel who hold high level PR and customer care skills. Our staff deliver service with the highest level of professionalism, which reflects positively on the event hosts and organisers.

We’re very proud to celebrate our partnership with the world-class gallery, and would like to congratulate GoMA for it’s decade-long success. We look forward to continuing our partnership for another ten years.
