CAP Security Services Townsville
Back in early November, CAP Security Services Townsville serviced the cricket held at Tony Ireland Stadium, performing gate screening, pitch protection and roving security duties. The Papua New Guinea Hebou Barramundis were hosting their first International Cricket Council-accredited One Day International (ODI) series against Hong Kong, who at the time were ranked one place higher than Papua new Guinea in the global rankings at 15th place. Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea were both awarded ODI status by the ICC following their fifth and sixth placings respectively in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand earlier this year. In that event both nations, unfortunately, just missed out on a place in world cricket’s pinnacle event, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in February and March 2015. The Digicel ODI Series consisting of two ODIs and a friendly test match between the two teams were held back-to-back at Townsville’s Tony Ireland Stadium which was recently inspected by the ICC and accredited as the 10th international cricket venue in Australia. Despite a bomb threat hoax which forced police and security to do a sweep of the stadium – with the site declared safe, the game continued as scheduled, seeing Papua New Guinea win the series after winning both ODIs and the test. The crowd, though small was very loud in support of their respective team and created a great atmosphere. CAP Security Services Townsville is looking forward to the opportunity to service more events at this great venue. Thanks to the staff who worked across these days – The client was very happy and satisfied with the how the event ran and the overall outcome achieved.
