Venue Spotlight: Queensland Country Bank Stadium

March 5, 2020

CAP Security Services has been confirmed as the official security provider for the Queensland Country Bank Stadium team in Townsville.

CAP Security Services has now amassed almost 30 years of experience in static security, crowd control, event security and event services. We deliver these services across a diverse range of industries, such as mining, construction, retail, residential, static security, major events, and personal protection.

Our clients are at the heart of everything we do, and there’s nothing we love more than shining a light on the amazing businesses that we have the pleasure of working with. We recently began servicing the incredible new stadium in Townsville and will be working on all exciting music and sporting events at the venue going forward. We had our first gig at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Feb 29 (for Sir Elton John, no less) and set an excellent tone for the service we’ll provide at all future events. Join us now as we get sentimental and talk about all things Country Bank Stadium.

The Build

The grand stadium was completed late in 2019 on schedule despite hundreds of suppliers being impacted by devastating floods earlier in the year, and officially opened its gates to North Queensland on February 22.

The Queensland Government stated that the stadium build surpassed its target of having locals complete at least 80% of the stadium’s construction hours, exceeded the goal for apprentices, and nearly doubled its indigenous workforce target.

An incredible 2,065 Townsville residents built the stadium – that’s nearly one in every 100 people lending a hand – and 480 local businesses were involved on work packages totalling $163m.

The stadium is now set to revitalise the Townsville CBD, with major events expected to bring visitors whose dollars will pump up local businesses.

What’s Inside

Queensland Country Bank Stadium is a multi-purpose venue with 25,000 seats, and a design that celebrates Townsville’s climate. The specialised “ready to play” turf at the stadium is locally grown and an impressive 11,000 square meters. We’ll also see a whopping 200 square meter scoreboard, and a roof that has the ability to shade 75% of the seating.

Corporate and function facilities include 88 external corporate boxes, 17 corporate suites and two major function rooms.

There won’t be any problems getting nourishment at the venue with 2km of beer lines, and 17 food and drink stands on the main concourse.

Securing Country Bank Stadium

As the new stadium is such a large venue, and will be visited by passionate sports fans and excited concert-goers, CAP Security Services will ensure, as always, that all security personnel have up to date training in crowd control, corporate services and licensed venue management.

CAP Security Services ensures that all Crowd Control Officers are exposed to the highest level of training to prepare them for any circumstance. This rigorous and ongoing training undertaken by all personnel contributes to CAP Security Services’ ranking as Queensland’s premier security company.

We’re excited for the Cowboys to run out at their new homeground for their first game of the year on March 13 and look forward to seeing you there.
